It's always very interesting for me to read how different companies operate and what technologies they use. Here's a nice article from the engineers at Instagram about their infrastructure. They use Route 53 for their DNS, elastic load balancing and lots of EC2 instances for their application and database servers. And they managed to scale to over 14 million users in a year having just 3 engineers.

I was very happy this morning to read the announcement that the AWS Management Console now supports Amazon Route 53. It already has an API which can be used to create hosted zones and add records to them, but I only have a few domains so I didn't want to mess around with it. Nothing can stop me now from moving all of my domains to the cloud.
